Our Christmas socks have gone out in the post to our charity clients. We know many of you will now open the envelope and think… socks again!

Why it is okay to repeat ideas

In charity design there’s a lot of pressure to constantly create something new. But good ideas don’t always need replacing. If something works, if it is received well, and if it creates an impact, it’s worth doing again.

You can adjust it, update it or put it in a new context, but the core idea stays the same. That’s where the real strength sits.

People like socks

One of the reasons the socks are back is that people genuinely loved them last year. We had clients sending photos, comparing patterns, and telling us they were wearing them in meetings. So we listened. Part of good marketing is knowing your audience. And that applies just as much to Christmas giveaways as it does to campaigns

Being ethical matters

We also wanted what we send out to reflect our own values and the values of the charities we work with. That means keeping things simple, thoughtful and ethical. In a world where so much ends up in the bin after Christmas, we didn’t want to add to the landfill problem. It is a sobering fact that more than 100 million bags of rubbish are sent to landfill in the UK during the festive season.

We’d much rather send something people will wear, rather than something that becomes instant waste.

And we know our clients value eco-friendly products.

The value of consistent design

Working with charities has shown us how important dependable, recognisable design is. When people instantly know something is from you, it builds trust. It helps your message cut through the marketing-noise.

Over time that consistency creates a sense of community around your work. People feel connected because they know what they’re looking at and what it stands for.

Why these socks

This year’s socks are from Stand Out Socks. They’re a social enterprise with a clear purpose, creating socks that open up conversations about disability inclusion in a positive, everyday way. They work with people who have Down Syndrome, and every pair reflects that mission.

We like them because their approach is honest and human. They make something useful, and the message behind it is clear without being pushed at you.
