The challenge
Foothold Cymru is a Llanelli-based charity working with communities to provide support and opportunities in areas many of us take for granted such as food, clothing, education and employment.
As part of this, they developed the ‘Volunteens: Be Heard. Be Helpful’ project to help voluntary and community organisations better engage young people as volunteers.
They needed a suite of materials that could clearly communicate guidance, legal considerations and best practice in an accessible and engaging way. This included a core toolkit explaining the project, practical resources for both young people and organisations, and supporting promotional materials.
The challenge was to present a large amount of detailed information in a clear, engaging and structured way.

What we did
Ginger and Tall worked closely with Foothold Cymru to design a complete set of materials that balanced clarity with usability.
We created the main toolkit to explain the project and guide organisations through engaging young volunteers. We also designed a series of practical resources, including 13 Canva templates, giving both young people and organisations simple, ready-to-use materials. A pull-up banner supported promotion of the project at events and in community settings.
Impact
The final suite gives Foothold Cymru a strong, practical set of tools to support organisations across Wales.
The toolkit, templates and promotional materials helps extend the reach of the project and enables organisations to confidently involve young volunteers.
“Working with Ginger and Tall has made everything feel so much easier. They really understood what we were trying to achieve and Ellen completely got the brief. The design has helped us communicate our work more clearly, be consistent and connect with the people we want to reach.” – Emily Wells, Fundraising and Marketing Manager, Foothold Cymru.
The project was funded by the Welsh Government and delivered in collaboration with Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA).
